Description
English: Cast copper alloy knife pommel fragment length 17mm, width 13mm, thickness 5mm, weight 2.57g. Semicircular cross section with a hollow underside, the face of the object is decorated with an engraved cross that is made up of two set of triple lines, the is then held within a border of three engraved lines front and back. There is a single rivet hole towards the rear. This is one half of a composite pommel. The pommel as a whole would have been oval in section and would have sat either side of the iron tang. This artefact dates to the 15th to 16th century.
