With threatening grey clouds for most of the day, here are a few pictures taken on a day trip to Oban in September 2008. This was a "rest day" during the 95 mile or so walk from Milngavie to Fort William known as the West Highland Way. We stayed in Tyndrum for two nights, got the B&B to wash our smelly walking socks and took the train to Falls of Cruachan power station. They were kind to give us a free tour as we said we had turned up by train and not by car or coach! Then followed a rather expensive bus ride into Oban as it was a long wait for the next train. We had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon here in Oban. Taken from Battery Hill in Oban looking across the harbour. To the extreme left is the station and in the background the island of Kerrera. |
