Description

CBC Renovates Dental Facility. In 1942, when WWII was barely six months old, a medical dental dispensary was built to support personnel at the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center.

Today, the dental clinic still occupies the same general wartime structure but with a brand new face lifting. In June 1972 funds were allocated for complete renvoation of the reception desk area. Little change had occured since inception, and the spaces appeared stark, drab, utilitarian, bleak and uninviting.

On Nov. 10, 1972, following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony, the area was offically opened for patient use. The completed project includes pile carpeting, color coordinated walls and furniture, twin planter box containers, accoustical ceiling, and wood paneling. The overall effect is now pleasant, comfortable, and attractive.

In addition, traffic flow and inter-communication has been greatly enhanced. CAPT F. B. Rhobotham, Senior Dental Officer, remarked that this improvement comes most opportunely when outdated people-oriented service facilities urgently need upgrading.
