The opening day of the 11th Museum Day celebration at the Museum of Santal Culture in Bishnubati unfolded with vibrant festivities, honoring the rich heritage of the Santal community. Organized by the Ghosaldanga Bishnubati Adivasi Trust in collaboration with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), the event drew enthusiastic villagers from Bishnubati and Ghosaldanga.The highlight of the day was the Traditional Santal Food Mela, featuring delicacies prepared using authentic methods. Inaugurated by Dr. Dukhia Murmu, Head of the Department of Santali at Viva-Bharati, the mela continued from evening to midnight, attracting large crowds who enjoyed the cuisine and adorned traditional attire.Adivasi community dances added to the cultural grandeur, reflecting the spirit of the Santal people. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Martin Kämpchen, Dr. Boro Baski, Bimal Baski, Subodh Kulkarni of the CSI, Dr. Bodhisattwa Mandal of the 'West Bengal Wikimedians User Group' and Santal artisan Debu Murmu, graced the event, emphasizing the importance of preserving Santal traditions.The celebration fostered a joyful atmosphere, uniting the community and promoting cultural awareness for future generations.
