English: DJIBOUTI, Africa (Jan. 18, 2017) U.S. Marines with 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit play a soccer game against local nationals in Djibouti, Jan. 18. While in Djibouti, Marines took the opportunity to interact with locals by playing a scrimmage soccer game and conducting physical training. Cultural exchanges with the local populace is an important part of a MEU’s deployment as it gives the Marines and Sailors an opportunity to give back to communities in which they are deployed and add to their experience as ambassadors of the U.S. while on deployment.
