Description: The Palmach Square is named after the Palmach (abbreviation: The Punch Companies) was the regular military force of the "Haganah" in the years 1941-1948, which defined itself as the Hebrew army of the Jewish state on the way.

תיאור: כיכר הפלמ"ח נקראת על שם הפלמ”ח (ראשי תיבות: פלוגות המחץ) היה הכוח הצבאי הסדיר של “ההגנה” בשנים 1941-1948, שהגדיר עצמו כצבא העברי של המדינה היהודית שבדרך.
הערות: בימיה הראשונים של מלחמת העצמאות היה הפלמ”ח עמוד השדרה של הצבא החדש, השתתף בקרבות בצפון ובמרכז, ונשא בעול הגנת הנגב כולו, עד שהתארגן צבא ההגנה לישראל. לוד נכבשה במלחמת השחרור במבצע "דני" ע"י הפלמ"ח.
