Description: The architect Shmuel Mastechkin designed the Berel Houses in 1946 as a vacation home for the working youth. The building is named after Berel Katznelson.

תיאור: האדריכל שמואל מסטצ'קין תכנן את בתי ברל ב 1946.כבית נופש של הנוער העובד.הבניין קרוי על שמו של ברל כצנלסון.כאן שכנה מפקדת מבצע נחשון אשר נהלה מכאן את המערכה לשחרור ירושלים הנצורה.
הערות: הקיבוץ נוסד באוקטובר 1930 על ידי חניכי הנוער העובד מקבוצת "הבציר" ברחובות. זהו הקיבוץ הראשון שנוסד על ידי חניכי תנועת "הנוער העובד" וכן גם הקיבוץ הראשון שהוקם על ידי נערים שנולדו בארץ ישראל.השם נען נבחר על ידי חברי הקיבוץ באוקטובר 1936. השם ניתן לקיבוץ בשל קרבתו לכפר הערבי נענה, לקיבוץ רפת משותפת עם קיבוץ שובל המספקת חלב ל"טרה", ענף גידולי שדה הנפרש על פני כ-8,000 דונמים (גידולים : כותנה, תירס, אבטיח) וכמו כן בעלות על שטחי מטעים, פרדסים וחצילים ומספר ענפים נוספים הפועלים בתוך הקיבוץ.
