Description: Metula is the northernmost settlement in the State of Israel

תיאור: מטולה היישוב הצפוני ביותר במדינת ישראל
הערות: מטולה - מועצה מקומית ומושבה בגליל העליון והיישוב הצפוני ביותר בישראל. במקום היה כפר דרוזי "אל-מֻטַ֫לַּה" והמקום נקנה על ידי הברון רוטשילד מאפנדי ערבי נוצרי מצידון ב 1890. המושבה מטולה הוקמה ב- 1896 על ידי 59 משפחות שנקראו לגליל לבקשת אוסוביצקי להציל את החקלאות. מיקום מטולה הביא לקביעת הגבול במקום. במאורעות תר"פ הותקפה מטולה. תושביה ברחו לצידון ועברו דרך הים לחיפה. חזרו ליישוב החרב ב 1920. בשנות השבעים במלחמת האזרחים בלבנון הגבול הפך לגדר הטובה שדרכה ניתן סיוע הומניטרי לתושבי לבנון.
