Description |
English: Cast copper alloy spur buckle with integral plate, length 28mm, width 19mm, thickness 2mm weight 3.94g. Oval buckle 13mm long, 19mm wide, with an oval cross section frame. The plate is a long thin rectangle 28mm long 7mm wide, this has been bent into two, the rear is expanded into a rectangular plate 7mm long, 10mm wide, with a hook terminal, there is a hole at the base of the buckle for the pin, which comprises of a sheet copper alloy that’s terminal has been bent round to form a loop. There are two rivet hole on the plate, one forward and one at the rear, the forward one still retains a copper alloy rivet.
These types of buckles are found from excavations in London and have been dated to 1250-1450. |
