Title
1159 Early Medieval to Medieval buckle.jpg
Description
English: Cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle length 13mm, width 21mm, thickness 4mm weight 1.6g. The strap bar is narrowed and recessed with a concentration of corrosion in the centre which is that remains of pin. The arms arc out from the strap bar and curve round to the forward edge which is bevelled at about a 150 degree angle. There is random linear decoration incised on the forward edge. The overall condition is poor with corrosion removing the original surface. This types of buckle have been found in excavations from the 9th century until the 14th century, therefore a 800-1450 is likely.
