תיאור: מגדלים ההיסטוריים מגדלי השמירה שנמצאים ליד תחנת רכבת לוד נבנו כנראה ב 1938-9 באזור שטוח, לכן הוצבו על רגליים גבוהות. המגדלים נבנו מבטון ונועדו לתצפית ולהגנה על השומרים מנשק שבעיקרו היה קל
הערות: תחנת הרכבת החדשה בלוד נבנתה על ידי הבריטים ונחנכה בפברואר 1918.התחנה החליפה את תחנת לוד העות’מנית על קו יפו-ירושלים. בלוד נפגשו קווי הרכבת יפו-ירושלים, שחצו את הארץ לרוחב, וקווי הרכבת חיפה-קנטרה, שחצו את הארץ לאורך וקישרו אותה למצרים. במאורעות המרד הערבי הגדול 1936 – 1939 היו הרכבות והתחנות מטרה להתנכלויות ערבים. הבריטים בנו מערך של מגדלי שמירה, בנקודות אסטרטגיות לאורך מסילות הרכבת וסביב התחנות. מגדלי שמירה אלה הם חלק מ 4 מגדלים שהיו סביב תחנת לוד.
