תיאור: בית אבו עשור שהיה מוכתר אבו עשור היה המוכתר של שכונת בקעה לפני מלחמת העצמאות ב 1948.בָּקְעַה היא שכונה בדרום ירושלים. שמה מגיע מערבית ומשמעותו: מישור.בשכונה מתגוררים דתיים, מסורתיים וחילוניים זה לצד זה.מבני המגורים הראשונים נבנו בסוף המאה ה 19
הערות: בעיקר עבור עובדי הרכבת. בתים פשוטים אלו נהרסו.במהלך שנות ה-20 של המאה ה-20 הוקמה שכונת בקעה כאחת מהשכונות הערביות הספורות שהוקמו מחוץ לחומות העיר העתיקה. מרבית התושבים הראשונים היו ערבים מוסלמים ונוצרים וכן ארמנים ויוונים אורתודוקסים. רוב התושבים היו בני משפחות אמידות. הם בנו בה בתי מידות בני קומה אחת או שתי קומות. האדריכלות של הבתים שילבה סגנונות בנייה מזרחיים ומערביים.השכונה ננטשה על ידי תושביה הערבים, ובבתיה הריקים התיישבו פליטים מהרובע היהודי וכן עולים חדשים.
