Description: Here, on the lower floor of the building, in the 1940s, a factory called Tofaz operated to create by-products of citrus fruits such as: jams, pectin, essential oil, etc.

שם: בית חרות בית חרושת תופז מכון יוסף
תיאור: כאן בקומה התחתונה של המבנה פעל בשנות ה-40 של המאה הקודמת, בית חרושת שנקרא "תופז" ליצור מוצרי לוואי של פרי הדר כמו: ריבות, פקטין, שמן אתרי וכו.בית החרושת "תופז" שימש כמסווה לפעילותו של אחד ממכוני המחתרת של תעש בשם מכון יוסף (ע"ש יוסף ויתקין)
הערות: מכון יוסף ,פעל בקומה העליונה של מבנה בית חרושת "תופז" וייצר עבור ארגון "ההגנה" אבקת שריפה המכונה טן.מפעל "תופז" פעל בסך-הכל כ-10 שנים בין השנים 1941 עד תחילת שנות ה-50 "מכון יוסף" פעל לסירוגין, בין השנים 1942-1944 ובין השנים 1947-1949. לאחר סגירת בית החרושת "תופז" שימש המבנה בו שכן למחסנים בתי עסק קטנים וכיוצא בזה.מזה תקופה ארוכה עומד המבנה ההיסטורי שומם ועזוב.(NEWS1)
