Name: Tel Ashraf - Apollonia
Description: The city of Arshef was founded at the beginning of the Persian period (6th to 4th century BC) by the Phoenicians, and was named after Reshef, the Phoenician god of storm and war.

שם: תל אשרף - אפולוניה
תיאור: העיר ארשף הוקמה בראשית התקופה הפרסית (המאה ה־6 עד המאה ה־4 לפנה"ס) על ידי הפיניקים, ונקראה על שם רשף, אל הסער והמלחמה הפיניקי.
הערות: ב־1099 לאחר כיבוש ירושלים צרו הצלבנים על ארסוף, אך נכשלו. ב־1101 נכבשה ארסוף על ידי הצלבנים בראשות בלדווין הראשון שנעזר בצי אוניות מג'נובה. במאה ה־12 הפכה ארסוף לאחוזה פאודלית בשם "אַרְסוּר" (Arsur), ושליטה היה ז'אן הראשון מארסור (Jean I, seigneur d'Arsur;‏ 1168–1198). בעקבות המפלה הצלבנית בקרב קרני חיטין בשנת 1187 הייתה ארסוף תחת שליטה מוסלמית במשך ארבע שנים, וביצוריה נהרסו. ב־7 בספטמבר 1191 נערך בסמוך ליער ארסוף (יער האלונים שהיה באזור) קרב גדול בין ריצ'רד לב הארי לצלאח א־דין.
