Description: On May 12, 1948, as part of Operation Barak, in order to delay the supposed movement of the Egyptians towards Tel Aviv, Company B of the 53rd Battalion of the Givati Brigade blew up Jessar Isdod - Gesher Ad Halum.

שם: אשדוד פארק עד הלום
תיאור: ב־12 במאי 1948, במסגרת מבצע ברק, על מנת לעכב את תנועת המצרים המשוערת לכיוון תל אביב, פוצצה פלוגה ב' מגדוד 53 של חטיבת גבעתי את ג'סר איסדוד - גשר עד הלום.
הערות: בליל ה-15 במאי, שעות לאחר הכרזת העצמאות של מדינת ישראל חצה חיל המשלוח המצרי את קו הגבול הבין–לאומי המפריד בין ארץ ישראל למצרים באזור רפיח ופלש לתחומי המדינה הערבית בגבולותיה על פי החלטת החלוקה בתנועה לכיוון גבולות המדינה היהודית על פי החלטת החלוקה. הכוח המצרי נעצר במג'דל. ב–28 במאי יצא הכוח המצרי ממג'דל והמשיך בתנועה ללא הפרעה על ציר החוף בדרכו צפונה. ב-29 במאי נכנס הכוח המצרי לאשדוד והמשיך צפונה כשלושה קילומטרים עד שנעצר בג'סר אסדוד המפוצץ. לפנות ערב, הופתעו המצרים על ידי תקיפה אווירית.
