English: Name: Cacon fortress Description: During the reign of the Crusaders, the Templar order built a citadel at the top of a hill in the place, which was called Keko. The Mamluks, led by the Sultan Bibers, captured the citadel in 1260, rebuilt it and turned the church back into a mosque. עברית: שם: מבצר קאקון תיאור: בתקופת שלטון הצלבנים בנה המסדר הטמפלרי מצודה בראש גבעה במקום, שכונתה קקו. הממלוכים, בראשות השולטן ביברס, כבשו את המצודה בשנת 1260, שיקמוה והפכו את הכנסייה שבה למסגד. הערות: השלטון הממלוכי עודד הגירה למקום ותרם להפיכתו למרכז מסחרי על הדרך הראשית שחיברה בין דמשק למצרים. בראשית המאה ה-14 נבנה בו חאן בפקודת מושל עזה. בתקופה הממלוכית בוצרה קאקון והייתה למרכז צבאי ומנהלי. לאחר הכיבוש העות'מאני במאה ה-16 היה במקום יישוב ובו 127 תושבים. בשנות השלושים של המאה ה-19, בשנות השלטון המצרי בארץ, נהרס הכפר בידי צבאו של אבראהים פאשא במסגרת דיכוי מרד הפלאחים. מיקום: קאקון קובץ מקורי: PICT0709.JPG |
