| Description | Was worth all the trouble and effort (the cold wet rain and the constant strenuous climbing and even the stupid bottle gourd I had to eat once for lunch ( !!!) ) to get up here. This view and the unbelievable fact that I could hear that river rushing on its path in the far distance, gave me simple, unadulerated happiness. Initially, I was disappointed that we had not reached the actual Chenap Valley ( I'm still not sure that we did or not - but my friend kept teasing me saying we hadn't, I suspect it was mainly to dismiss my huffing and puffing and slow climbing and the terrible effort I had put in). I wanted to be there, there where the river was. I felt so seperated and so apart and I felt I deserved to be there - next to that river because I had suffered the climb up here damn it. Somehow I was reminded of how VanderMeer writes of nature - that feeling welled up from inside me - that it was okay that I was here and the river was there, beyond my reach, doing its own business of rushing down and not even aware of a pitiful human like me. The river lives it own life, and I keep listening to its voice, from far faraway... |
