Name: Netanya - Umm Khaled (neighborhood)
Description: The Arab village whose sheikh, Salah Hamdan, first purchased their land in Netanya. In the center of the village stood a Crusader citadel from the 12th century, also known as the 'Lombard citadel'. Archaeological excavations at the site revealed remains from prehistoric and later periods.

שם: נתניה - אום ח'אלד (שכונה)
תיאור: הכפר הערבי אשר מהשיח' שלו, צלאח חאמדן, רכשו ראשוני נתניה את אדמתם. במרכז הכפר ניצבה מצודה צלבנית מהמאה ה-12, המכונה גם 'המצודה הלומבארדית'. בחפירות ארכיאולוגיות במקום נחשפו שרידים מתקופות פרה-היסטוריות ומתקופות מאוחרות יותר.
הערות: היחסים בין תושבי הכפר לתושבי נתניה היו חמים ביותר, אך הם עזבו את המקום ב-1948 בעקבות לחצם של ערביי טול-כרם. במקום התיישבו עולים חדשים לאחר מלחמת העצמאות. שמו של הכפר לזכרה של סבחה אמו של ח'אלד בן וליד ממפקדי הערבים שכבשו את הארץ בראשית המאה השביעית. עץ השקמה העתיק של הכפר שימש נקודת ציון מרכזית ומתנשא עד היום לתפארת כמזכרת מימי עבר. על פי זיכרונותיה של יהודית, אשת הנדבן הידוע משה מונטיפיורי, ליד העץ הם חנו בדרכם מיפו לחיפה ב-1839.
