Description: The Deer Sneid Bridge in the Sycamore Creek is associated with the events of the First World War. In April 1917, the Turks began building a railroad towards their compounds in the Gaza Strip.
עברית:
שם: נחל שקמה - גשר דיר סנייד
תיאור: גשר דיר סנייד בנחל שקמה קשור באירועי מלחמת העולם הראשונה. באפריל 1917 הטורקים החלו לבנות מסילת ברזל לעבר מתחמיהם שברצועת עזה.
הערות: המסילה עברה דרך נחל שורק , ירדה לכפר דיר סנייד והגיעה עד בית חנון. מדיר סנייד יצאה שלוחה נוספת של המסילה לבסיסי הטורקים שבאל-הוג' (סמוך לשדרות של ימינו). הבריטים הפתיעו את הטורקים ופרצו את החזית הטורקית בבאר שבע. עזה נפלה כמה ימים אחר כך. אחרי מלחמת ששת הימים עוד נסעו על הגשר רכבות בדרכן לעזה ואל-עריש, באמצע שנות ה-70 הופסקה תנועת הרכבות.
