Title
1020 Roman belt fitting reverse.jpg
Description
English: Cast copper alloy strap fitting length 35mm, width 19mm, thickness 8mm, weight 7.44g. Two ornate crescents with inward curved tips and a pointed central projection flank a central bar that has an expanded waist which joins with the central projection of the crescents. There are two small recessed lines on both terminals of the central bar. The reverse is plain with two integral rivets both rivets have expanded terminals. This sort of artefact dates to the 3rd century and would have been a decorative strap fitting on a military belt.
