The C-130, from the 2nd Airlift Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, North Carolina, brought the Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division and their equipment to Haiti as part of the relief efforts being conducted by the DoD. U.S. Southern Command is deploying assets to Haiti to conduct search and rescue operations, damage assessments, and transitions sustained Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations in order to prevent human suffering and additional loss of life.
