ไทย: วัดมหาธาตุวรวิหารถือเป็นอีกวัดหนึ่งซึ่งสำคัญที่สุดของจังหวัดเพชรบุรีและเป็นวัดเก่าแก่ที่สันนิษฐานว่าน่าจะมีมาตั้งแต่สมัยทวารวดีเนื่องจากมีการค้นพบโบราณวัตถุสมัยนั้นจำนวนมากภายในบริเวณวัด วัดนี้น่าจะเป็นพระอารามหลวงมาก่อนทว่าได้ถูกทิ้งร้างไป จนกระทั่งในรัชสมัยรัชกาลที่ 6 ได้มีการบูรณะวัดนี้ขึ้นอีกครั้งและทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ยกฐานะวัดนี้ขึ้นเป็นพระอารามหลวงอีกครั้งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2459 ปัจจุบันวัดมหาธาตุวรวิหารเป็นแหล่งรวบรวมผลงานด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรมที่สะท้อนผ่านพระอุโบสถและรายละเอียดต่าง ๆ ภายในมากมาย โดยสิ่งที่น่าชมได้แก่ พระวิหารหลวง สร้างในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนปลาย สมัยสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวบรมโกศ

English: Wat Mahathat Worawihan is considered one of the most important temples in Phetchaburi Province and is an old temple that is assumed to have existed since the Dvaravati period due to the discovery of many antiques from that time within the temple area. This temple was probably a royal monastery before, but it has been abandoned. Until the reign of King Rama VI, this temple was restored again and His Majesty graciously ordered it. This temple was elevated to a royal temple again in 1916. Today, Wat Mahathat Worawihan is a collection of works of art and culture that are reflected in the temple and many details inside. Among the things worth admiring is the Phra Wihan Luang, built in the late Ayutthaya period. During the reign of His Majesty King Borommakot, The 31st King of Ayutthaya.
