Description
English: On the way into Phoenix from Strawberry, I pulled over for the view of Four Peaks, cleverly named landmark of the Mazaztal Mountains (> 7000 feet elevation).

It was a well needed thought break, as this is the last bit of open mountain country on the Beeline highway before driving the lat desert floor into the metro Phoenix Area, the transformation from mountain land to city space.

It's a long 20+ mile drive up a bumpy dirt road to the left side og Peak 1 or the trailhead, a great hike. If you follow the trail south, you skirt the bas, on the side of Peak 4 is the famed Amethyst mine, but I am not admitting I ever went past the "No Trespassing" sign.
