Français : l’Esclave mourant (H. 2.28 m). Statue en marbre, œuvre réalisée entre 1510 et 1515 par Michelangelo Buonarroti pour le tombeau du pape Jules II et écartée du projet par celui-ci. Après avoir été détenue par différents propriétaires, passée dans les collections du duc de Richelieu, elle est finalement saisie sous la Révolution en 1792. Elle est actuellement conservée au Louvre à Paris (réf: MR 1590) et y a été photographiée le 09 décembre 2011.
English: The Dying Slave (H. 2.28 m). Marble statue, work produced between 1510 and 1515 by Michelangelo Buonarroti for the tomb of Pope Julius II and excluded from the project by it. After being owned by different owners, passed into the collections of the Duke of Richelieu, it was finally seized during the Revolution in 1792. It is currently kept at the Louvre in Paris (ref: MR 1590) and was photographed there on December 09, 2011. |
