Description
中文（臺灣）：1.保存最完整且融合中國觀念的洋式礮臺：旗後礮臺是中國近代史上融合中國觀念、全面吸收西洋技術而設計的礮臺中最完整的一座。

2.唯一設置祭祀房的礮臺：旗後礮臺在後操場西側的房間設置了一座灰泥砌築的翹頭案，雖在臺灣其餘的礮臺有類似神龕的凹洞配置，但未有如旗後礮臺如此規模的單一空間，具有古代軍事文化史上的重要意義。 3.旗後礮臺配置的風水概念：旗後礮臺原主入口朝東南方，分金線（中軸線）坐丑向未，營門坐戌向辰，因此雖為外籍技師所設計，但大門方位顯然符合中國傳統的風水觀念。 (四)較具重要性：旗後礮臺為臺灣第一批洋式礮臺，為國內唯二最早的洋式礮臺。原有的礮座區、兵房、彈藥庫、前後操練場等格局保存完整，見證清末的戰防思考，在中國近代的軍事史上具有十分重要的研究價值。 (五)保存較完整：旗後礮臺在各個時期，雖因應各種不同的戰爭需求而做的增修改建，但僅有南端進出口改變，原有形式保存完整，周圍環境仍能呈現始建時的歷史風貌。

(六)各時代或某類型之典範：旗後礮臺的中國與西洋混合式設計，體現了「洋務運動」時所標榜的「中學為體、西學為用」的觀念，當時聘西人工程師設計，但研判為中國匠師建造，在關塞類建築中，其砌磚工藝精湛，全臺僅見。
