Description

On 4 November 2014, I had a planned layover of nearly 3 hours at the Romanian capitals main station, București Nord. A classic terminal station which offers good photographic conditions for both arriving and departing trains. With twelve full length platforms, it sees a fair bit of activity with diesel and electric hauled trains as well as a good selection of DMUs too. Despite police and many railway staff wandering around the station, I encountered no problem.

Seen here is General Motors engine fitted class 65, no. 65.1204 having arrived on train R8122, 06:05 Slobozia Veche to București Nord. The class 65s (and similar class 63s) were rebuilt from the class 60 family with new bodies and engines to work IR and regional services throughout Romania.
