Description
English: Cast copper alloy Dolphin style brooch. 1st century AD. Roman. Wings are concave but with no side element, therfore the hinge mechanism is not enclosed as it would be in a Polden hill variety. 4 turns of the spring are still present on the right hand side of the wings. A central upper projecting loop holds wire. The bow is roughly triangular in section with a wide central ridge. The tip and catch plate are missing. the bow has been flattened and misshapen due to post-depositional activity.
