Die höchste Esse Europas hat eine Höhe von 140 m und ein Gesamtgewicht von ca. 5 400 000 kg. Der untere Durchmesser beträgt 8,25 m, der obere 3 m. Der versteckte Kanal, welcher über die Mulde nach der Esse führt, ist ca 500 m lang. Der Schornstein dient zur Abführung giftiger Gase und wurde mit einem Kosten-Aufwande von 235 000 Mark von der Firma Heinicke. Chemnitz errichtet. 1888 begonnen, konnte das Bauwerk im April 1890 dem Betrieb übergeben werden.
Halsbrücke-Freiberg Zum Bau sind insgesamt verwendet worden : 414 Doppelladungen = 1080 000 Stück Ziegel 103 Doppelladungen Sand 17 Doppelladungen Kalk 6 Doppelladungen Zement 540 Doppelladungen zu je 10 000 kg.
