Description
English: Portsmouth, VA (Apr. 25, 2002) -- Hospital Corpsman 1st Class William Burrell, stationed aboard the coastal mine hunter USS Cormorant (MHC 57) homeported in Ingleside, TX, and Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Joseph Howard stationed at Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA) Mayport, FL, were named the 2002 Atlantic Fleet Sea and Shore Sailor of the Year, respectively, in the annual competition between the top sailors in the fleet. Both were honored with a banquet at the Renaissance Hotel in Portsmouth, VA, hosted by Adm. Robert J. Natter, Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
