Małopolski Instytut Kultury w Krakowie “Treasures” hidden in prehistory are an extremely important, and at the same time constitute a highly diverse archaeological source in terms of nature, purpose, and composition. Intentional deposits, which by definition are of great value to their owners, can explain many social, spiritual, economic. and political issues. They also provide an invaluable source for reflections on chronology. This applies in particular to periods such as the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age, when the habit of hoarding items became commonplace. It is sometimes extremely difficult for archaeologists to interpret these finds. However, there are usually some premises that provide a basis whereby one may try to determine the probable reason for hiding the items, and thus whether they were conditioned by economic, political and military reasons, or whether they should be associated with the area of worship.
