Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Kuruvakkavu temple is a 10th century Mushika dynasty era Hindu temple linked to Ramayana legends. The temple is dedicated to Sita, in the context of Lava and Kush – her twin sons. The temple has a square plan, an inscription on a slab. The site is much larger and once hosted nine temples with a rock-cut cave. The ruins and foundation of a few can be seen, rest is covered by dense forest growth. This temple is notable for the evidence that Mushikas (Mushaka) were Hindus, which is confirmed by other 9th and 10th century Hindu temples and inscriptions discovered in north Kerala.
