Description
English: The Ooramana Hindu temple and monastery is a late 12th-century complex near the banks of Muvattupuzha river in Ernakulam district, Kerala. It includes a circular floor plan, easting facing shrine for Narasimha avatar of Vishnu built on a granite adhisthana. This temple has beautiful wooden Hindu artwork on pillars and brackets, as well as murals with scenes of Ramayana, dancing Shiva, Sastha and Vedic legends. The Balikalu includes Saptamatrikas and Dikshapala Hindu artwork. The complex also includes a Hindu matha (monastery) historically associated with Sanskrit manuscripts and studies. The complex has a Sastha temple linked to the main temple.
