Shiva temple in Kutch

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Kateshwar is an ancient Hindu historic site. The early structures are in ruins and post-monsoons, these are partly covered by vegetation. They include caves, temple remains and a crude stepwell. The site is close to Siyot caves, which were used by Buddhist monks and traders between the 2nd and 7th century, likely till the 11th century. The Kateshwar site now has two major temples complexes, one is east-facing dedicated to Shiva (above) and another is west-facing and dedicated to Mahakali. They are close, both along the side of a state highway. These temples have been restored and feature a Nagara architecture.
