Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Harratoli – also spelled Harratola – is a village in north Chhattisgarh near Sankargarh, about 20 kilometers northwest from Dipadih. Midst its farms is a large group of Hindu temples, of which only one stone-brick temple survives. This has been restored and currently hosts a Shiva linga. Next to the this main surviving temple are the remains of an equal-sized temple foundation. Thus, this was likely a twin temple. It is not obvious to whom the second temple was dedicated, but it could be Parvati or Vishnu because both Devi and Harihara artwork have been found at this site. The site has the foundations of five moderately-sized square temples. A notable feature of the site is that all around the main twin temples are foundations of smaller mini shrines facing them. The notable artwork found at the site includes Umamaheshwara, Kartikeya, Harihara and Gauri (Parvati). The temple's original water reservoir sits across the road. Near the site and this reservoir are small mounds with a few scattered temple ruins sticking out.
