The surviving portion of the Shiva temple

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Deokirari temple ruins are the remains of an 11th-century Kalachuri era Shiva temple near Kirari Godhi village in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. Almost the entire temple was torn down at some point in its history, leaving behind the jagati (platform) and the portions of two walls of the sanctum and shikhara. These contain Hindu artwork and enough details to admire what must have been a pancharatha temple with six storeys. Most of the artwork and ruins are defaced or beheaded, except a few. Of these, the notable ones are Surya, a fusion relief with six hands that combine Shiva–Vishnu–Surya iconography, Nataraja, Harihara, Chamunda, Ganesha, and Agni.
