English: The Victoria telescope (also McClean telescope) consists of four telescopes on the same mount, including an 18-inch (for visible light) and 24-inch (for blue light) refractor, all built by Howard Grubb of Dublin. The Victoria dome and laboratory building were designed by sir Herbert Baker, and the dome was completed in 1896. The Victoria telescope was donated to the Royal Observatory by Frank McClean FRS (1837–1904) of Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells, England, for use by his colleague David Gill. It is currently a museum and visitor center and stands at the Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope, which since 1972 has been amalgamated with the South African Astronomical Observatory.[3][4]
