. The outcrops are seen on bothsides of a ravine 30 feet deep. Owing to a heavy talus on the slopes of theravine, the thickness of the beds cannot be ascertained l:)ut it is certainlygreater than is common on the Medina band. About 5 acres of stone areavailable without excessive stripping. This fact, together with the consider-able thickness of the deposit, indicates a large supply. The lieds are of len-ticular shape and, in some places, are 2 feet thick and quite solid and com-pact throughout. All the stone is of the grey variety, but it is hard and ismarred by fine lirown spots throughout—82. The stone: No. 82.—This is a more indurated stone, with particles largerthan those in the stone of either the Goodall or Biggar quarry. The grainsare about as large as in the ^lerritton stone but they are quite diffeient incharacter, being set close together in a fine mosaic of closely appressed angularfragments. The brown dots referred to above are very small and are scattered Plate XXXIX.
