Theevening before I hadbeen reading Mazie Ven-der Wyks Herbs andTheir Uses. I hadbought the book ofGladys Orr at the news-stand in the Expressstation a t Adanac.Gladys had a reputationthere not unlike SamuelJohnsons Pa. It wassaid of her that she wasso well acquainted withthe volumes which sheexposed for sale that theexpress officials thoughther an oracle on modernBest Sellers. When Ifirst saw the book on the shelf, I thoughtthat the authors name looked familiar. Iam sure now that the author of this bookand the Mazie I knew in school are iden-tical, for if I remember correctly, Mazieonce wrote a long article in the High SchoolMirror just to inform us that she could notget an inspiration.
