NEW YORK SALESMEN HISTORY OF THE HOUSE OF P. & F. CORBIN P. & F. CORBIN, New York, 1854-1897.P. & F. CORBIN, of New York, 1897-1904. The New York sales office of P. & F. Corbin was established in 1854,soon after the incorporation of the company, Mr. Frank Corbin leaving theNew Britain office to assume charge. A store was opened at No. 13 Gold Street, in what was then the heart of thehardware district, Frank Corbin assuming charge, assisted by his brother, GeorgeS. Corbin, then a lad. A stock of goods was carried from which shipmentswere made to customers, and all the trade outside of New England was caredfor from this store, it thus becoming the principal sales center of the company. At the beginning, a show case perhaps seven feet square sufficed to displaya complete line of samples of the Corbin goods.
