Notes The binding, which is dated 1570, originally belonged to another book. It bears portraits of the Emperor Charles V. and of John Frederick, Duke of Saxony. Macchi states; Probably bound in Saxony (see C.46.d.18., C.64.aa.3). Bound by interlaced "A" overhelmed by a cross master, as Saxony escutcheons in the panel top corner suggests. Charles V roll and panel stamp finely cut.
