Description
English: A blue plaque on the wall next to the entrance to the New Inn located on Norwich Road in the village of Roughton, Norfolk, England. The Plaque commemorates the six week stay of Albert Einstein in 1933. Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson who lived at Newhaven Court in the nearby town of Cromer was instrumental in Helping Albert Einstein seek refuge from Nazi Germany. He set him up in a wooden cabin on Roughton Heath and had him guarded by two men with shotguns. Einstein remained there for six weeks before arrangements were made for him to move on to the United States.
