Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Countdown to CoP16: Did you know that in 2000 an estimated 600,000 oceanic whitetip sharks were traded globally for their fins? While some international fisheries organizations have put shark finning bans of the oceanic whitetip into place, regulating trade of its fins is critical. The proposal to list oceanic whitetip sharks under CITES is crucial to ensure that trading is legal and not detrimental to the survival of the species. We hope other countries will join us to help advance this proposal. Get the details about what’s happening in CITES this year to protect oceanic whitetip sharks: 1.usa.gov/14XWYyJ.
