Description
A man wears a frustrated expression as he looks at the Where Does the Car Stop puzzle on the table in front of him, as his female companion looks on. The puzzle is labelled Which Side Does the Car Stop? Minneapolis Street Car Puzzle; and the legend says Street cars stop on far side on slippery mornings on unpaved streets -- on hot days on nearside when not raining, beyond Lake St. on holidays and Sundays on both sides except when snow is on the ground. Middle of the block. When in doubt take next car. To the side is a thick book labelled Rules of the Game. Table of Logarithms on Application. The puzzle itself shows confused riders attempting to figure out how to board two street cars which are passing through a street in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Morning Tribune reported that day that the previous day there was confusion on some street car lines due to the new code regulating stopping points for the cars. Included in the article is a map showing the central zone where the near-side stop rule would prevail.
