Description |
In the first panel The Republican Opposition to Dunn will chop down the whole tree of the Minnesotan Republican Party, including Law Making Power, Senatorship in 1907, Supreme Court Candidates, Minneapolis Mayoralty and Candidate for Governor, to the Democratic donkey's delight. The caption reads 'Destroying The Whole Tree to Get at One Branch -From the Tribune.'; In the second panel the GOP elephant simply cuts off the Candidate for Governor branch, to the donkey's disappointment. The caption here reads 'The G.O.P. - I rather hated to do it, but anyone can see that the tree has been improved by the pruning.' Bob Dunn was the Republican Party candidate for Governor in Minnesota, and had recently been accused of corruption while State Auditor. |
