Various Acleris Last night I ran the garden trap once more, this time under some nice cloudy and warm(ish) conditions. It was rather breezy the first few hours of darkness but by this morning it was very calm indeed and the trap was shrouded by a light mist. On inspection of the trap there wasn't the numbers that I have been use to as we are still in that nothingness shift between seasons, but there was a glimmer of things to come. A Centre-barred Sallow was new for the year as were two Lunar Underwings of the same form. Small Blood-vein was my latest 2nd brood record ever (generally I find these only singularly brooded during the months of June and July) My latest previous date was on the 07th of August! So this can only be a product of such a long period of favourable weather right through summer and up until now. 3 micro's were of interest amongst the catch, a pretty metallic Coleophora which needs checking although I have narrowed it down to either alcyonipennella, frischella or deuratella although I still favour the former species. The other two were Acleris emargana and Acleris rhombana, both garden firsts! So I am very chuffed indeed.
