Description
한국어: 고종 25년(1888) 2월 13일에 청국 예부에서 조선국왕에게 보내 온 문서. 영국 함대가 거문도(巨文島)를 점령한 일을 청국의 교섭에 의해 수복한 일에 대해 사은 방물을 진공(進貢)한 일을 이준(移准)하는 내용이다. 『고종실록』에 의하면 1887년 4월 17일에 의정부에서 거문도를 점거했던 영국 사람들이 지금 이미 철수하여 돌아갔으니, 청국에 사례하지 않을 수 없으니 사행 편에 방물을 갖추어 표문을 바치겠다는 뜻을 고종에게 아뢰었고, 또한 자문에 거문도 문제가 해결된 데 대해서 "우리나라 거문도를 영국 사람들이 점거한 지 3년이나 되었는데 물러가라고 독촉하면 그냥 질질 끌기만 한다. (중략) 그런데 천조(天朝:청국을 말함)에서 자기의 영토처럼 특별히 생각하고 어느 날 사리에 근거하여 잘못을 책망하니, 그들도 그만 군함을 돌려세우고 모든 시설물들을 철수하여 이지러진 것이 완전하게 되고 기울어졌던 것이 바로 잡혀서, 이후부터는 다른 나라들이 감히 엿볼 수 없게 되었다."라고 되어있다.
