Description
한국어: 모란 백한(白?鷳) 흉배를 부착한 흑색 운문단(雲紋緞) 단령에 사모를 쓰고 교의에 앉은 좌안칠분면의 전신좌상이다. 초상화는 전통방식을 따라 장황되어 있으며, 유소와 흰색의 끈은 없다. 모란당초문을 넣어 짠 미색 비단으로 가장자리를 두르고 위아래는 옥색 비단을 댔다. 장황과 화면에 꺾임과 구김이 심하고 바탕 부분에 얼룩이 있으나 얼굴 부분은 비교적 온전하게 남아있다. 광해군대의 공신 초상화로는 1613년 한꺼번에 녹훈되어 제작 반급(頒給)된 위성(衛聖), 익사(翼社), 정운(定運), 형난(亨難) 공신상이 있다. 이들 초상화는 인조반정 이후 훈적勳籍이 삭제됨에 따라 원칙적으로 회수하여 소각했을 것으로 여겨짐에도 불구하고, 현재까지 그 형용이 전하는 특수한 맥락을 지닌다. <윤중삼 초상> 또한 그 가운데 하나로서 주목할 만한 가치가 있다.
