English: In this illustration from the Dongguk Sinsok Samgang Haengsil-do, an illustrated book of Confucian morality tales printed by the Early Modern Korean state to inculcate Neo-Confucian values upon the general population, a woman surnamed Yi chooses to lose her hands and feet rather than her chastity by being raped.
