Description
한국어: 순종은 1909년 1월 7일부터 6박 7일 간 경상도와 충청도 지역을 순행 한 이후, 19일에 서북부의 끝인 신의주까지 순행을 하겠다고 발표하였다. 이어서 1909년 1월 27일 부터 2월 3일까지 7박 8일 동안 평양 → 의주 → 신의주 → 평양 → 개성 등지를 순행한 후 서울로 돌아왔다. 이 순행에는 통감이었던 이토 히로부미를 비롯하여 궁내부 201명 · 내각 49명 · 통감부 29명 등 총 279명이 호종원으로 참여하였다. 이 중 한국인이 198명, 일본인이 81명이었다. 서북 순행의 모든 과정을 촬영하기 위해 사진사 3명과 무라카미(村上) 사진점 점원 2명이 궁정열차에 탑승했는데 현재 전하는 《순종황제 서북순행 사진첩》 의 사진은 이때 찍은 것들로 추정된다. 이 사진은 만수대에 올라 휴식을 취하는 순종 일행을 촬영한 것이다.
