中文（臺灣）： 臺灣傳統廟宇在廟殿中門門柱前會設置一對石獅，其作用在於穩固中門門柱，此外亦具有鎮守避邪的象徵意義。
頭城慶元宮石獅設置在前殿中門門柱前，一公一母相互對望，均蹲坐於方形底座上，底座側面之中央較上下略為凹入，並浮雕以吉祥圖案。 龍（左）邊為公獅，圓眼寬鼻，嘴巴微張，內含石球，胸前繫有鈴鐺。左前爪抬起繫著彩帶，右前爪腳踩繡球。公獅雕有明顯之雄性生殖器。虎（右）邊為母獅，形態與公獅相仿，同樣圓眼寬鼻，嘴巴微張，內含石球，胸前繫有鈴鐺。右前爪抬起繫著彩帶，左前爪腳踩繡球。與公獅最大的差異之處，即在於胸前抱有小獅戲弄彩帶與繡球。 頭城慶元宮石獅與前殿石雕正面相同，亦以砂岩為材，經年累月的風吹與人的撫摸，風化情形嚴重，但卻也顯得古樸與圓潤，與一般石獅的有稜有角差異頗大。 |
